Biographical Sketch

Christopher Sticht is a R&D and consulting engineer. His work focuses on electric power systems and machine learning. Mr. Sticht invented ATILDA, a technique for load characterization, weather adjustment and load growth algorithms. He is an authority in utility distribution system planning, load analysis, planning software, renewables integration, and smart-grid. During his tenure in the electric power industry, he has been involved with numerous aspects of power delivery.

He holds a MSEE from the University of Washington and a BSEE from Georgia Tech both with a concentration in power systems. His experience includes government research, consulting, contracting, work at power flow software companies, and several investor owned utilities, as well as contracting/consulting with numerous large & small utilities.

Machine Learning Relay

A protective relay that uses machine learning techniques. The ML technique is related to speech recognition, but it is applied to power systems.

Apportioned Time Intermediate and Long Term Data Analysis (ATILDA)

Modeling electrical usage “load” information in the form of a polynomial equation. This is used for electric power system distribution planning.

ATILDA Weather Sensitivity

Finding an equation that accurately represents the relationship of electrical usage to ambient temperature. This is used for electric power system distribution planning and forecasting.

Voltage-Drop Power Flow

Leveraging ATILDA polynomials to perform power flow studies where an entire year is analyzed in a single run of power flow.
